Water, water, everywhere
2008.08.15
We had quite an incredible thunderstorm pop up this afternoon. It was raining so hard, and the wind was so strong, that it actually got the entire front porch wet. I don't know that this has ever happened in the two years we've been here.

At least the plants got some good rainwater out of it. :) (As you can see, Cousin Itt is still growing!)

You know the old saying, "Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink?" Usually that applies to sea water. Today it applied to our house.
We got a sudden, strong thunderstorm today. We love thunderstorms, and we needed the rain. However, we don't love this particular thunderstorm, because apparently lightning struck close enough to take out our well pump.
This means no water. Of course, the discovery was made after 5:00 pm. On a Friday. Naturally, anyone and everyone who services well pumps don't work after 5:00 or on the weekends. It's unbelievably frustrating to make phone call after phone call for two hours, without being able to even speak to a living person. We finally managed to find someone, but they won't be here until Monday.
Oh well. This weekend, we'll be refugees. We'll appear at our family's doorstep, shampoo and soap in hand, begging for a shower. At least we have air conditioning and power, and at least more damage wasn't done.
And I won't get to do laundry this weekend. Darn the bad luck. :)

Wow its coming down!! Cousin It is probably enjoying it :)
Yeah photographing rain isn't easy as I learned last Sunday at Brett's place hehehe!
That's crazy that it took out your well pump - I would go nuts without running water.... and I'd just be moving into someone else's for the weekend hahaha oh man...
